Code Talker" hardcover memoir, autograhed by Chester Nez, Judith Avila in Albuquerque, NM

$30 "Code Talker" hardcover memoir, autograhed by Chester Nez,

Chester volunteered for the Marines in 1942 even though his Navajo people were not allowed to vote in New Mexico, the state where he grew up. He became a top secret code talker, and was one of the Navajo Marines who developed the code, proved that it would work, and took it into battle in the Pacific Arena of WWII. The Navajo code is the only unbroken code in modern warfare.
Chester's memoir details his childhood - an upbringing that made him strong, his time as a Marine, and his life after the war.
The experts all agree that "Code Talker" is a great read. Kirkus Reviews calls it "unique and inspiring." The Huffington Post calls it "a fasinating melange of combat in the Pacific theater, the history of the Navajo people and the development of a uniquely American code that remained unbroken." Publlisher's Weekly says "readers will be captivated." And Library Journal Review describes it as "compelling."
